About The Goodest
Our Story
The Goodest started with one rescue dog and a lesson I never expected to learn.
I've always been an animal person. Growing up, my mom was usually less than impressed with the stray cats and dogs I managed to befriend. If there was an animal that needed a little attention, there was a good chance I was trying to help it.
But it wasn't until I adopted my rescue dog, Pyxie, that I learned something that completely changed my perspective.
I'm a little embarrassed to admit it, but I never knew that thousands of healthy, adoptable dogs are transported from states like Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi to the Northeast because there simply aren't enough homes available where they are. And those are the lucky ones. Countless other dogs never make it onto a transport, never get the chance to meet their future family, and are euthanized simply because shelters run out of space and resources.
It was one of those problems that I didn't realize existed until it became personal.

When Pyxie made that journey from Louisiana to Massachusetts, I started learning more about the incredible rescue organizations, fosters, volunteers, and transport teams working tirelessly to save lives every day. I also learned that sometimes the biggest thing standing in the way isn't a lack of love—it's a lack of resources. A transport needs funding. A foster needs supplies. A dog needs emergency medical care. Small expenses can become big obstacles.
That's why The Goodest was created. Through transport sponsorships, foster support grants, and emergency medical assistance, we help remove some of the barriers that prevent dogs from getting the care, safety, and opportunities they deserve.
Because every dog deserves the chance to find the person who thinks they're The Goodest.

We believe every dog deserves to be cherished. Somewhere, there's a person who will think that dog is the goodest companion in the world. Our goal is to help them find each other.
Why We Exist
Every day, animal rescue organizations across the country work tirelessly to save dogs in need. They coordinate transports, recruit foster families, arrange veterinary care, and spend countless hours helping dogs find loving homes. Their dedication changes lives, and many dogs wouldn't get a second chance without them.
But even the most passionate rescue organizations face challenges.
In many parts of the South, shelters are overcrowded and under-resourced. Dogs can spend weeks or months waiting for an opportunity that may never come. At the same time, rescue groups are often operating with limited budgets, relying on volunteers, donations, and foster families to keep their lifesaving work moving forward.
The need is great, but so are the obstacles.
Transportation costs can prevent a dog from reaching an area where adoption opportunities are more plentiful. Foster families may struggle with the expenses that come with caring for a rescue dog. Unexpected medical emergencies can place enormous financial strain on organizations already working with limited resources.
These barriers don't exist because people don't care. They exist because rescue is hard work, and there are never enough resources to meet every need.
That's why The Goodest exists.
Our mission is not to replace the incredible work rescue organizations are already doing. Our mission is to support it. Through transport sponsorships, foster support grants, and emergency medical assistance, we help remove some of the barriers that stand between rescue dogs and the loving homes waiting for them.
